Get ready to kick off the school year in the most scrumptious and creative way possible with AB&J Glow-ups, brought to you by Crofter’s Organic + Justin’s! 🎉📚

AB&J Glow-up #1

First up, we have the AB&J Kebobs, where sweet Crofter’s Organic Strawberry Premium Fruit Spread meets Justin’s naturally delicious Almond Butter, all skewered together for a delightful, mouthwatering treat.

AB&J KEBOBS

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • 1) Begin by creating two sandwiches. First, spread the Crofter’s Organic Premium Strawberry Fruit Spread on a slice of bread and top with an additional slice of bread. Then spread the Justin’s Classic Almond Butter on a slice of bread and top with the last slice of bread.
  • 2) Next, cut the crust off the sandwiches and cut into bite-size squares that are the same size—this makes them easier to stack. Grab a skewer, start with an almond butter square, and push the skewer through the center. Next, add a blueberry to the skewer then a fruit spread square. Repeat until the skewer is full.
  • 3) Cut off the pointy end of the skewer and top with a full strawberry. Pack kebobs into the lunchbox and enjoy!

AB&J Glow-up #2

Next in line are the AB&J Tacos—yes, you heard that right! These mini tacos are bursting with fruity goodness from Crofter’s Organic Seedless Raspberry Premium Fruit Spread and sweet nutty flavor from Justin’s naturally delicious Honey Almond Butter, creating a fiesta in every bite.

AB&J TACOS

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • 1) Begin by using an empty jar or large cup to stamp out 3 round circles from the bread.
  • 2) Next, spread 1 tsp. of Justin’s Honey Almond Butter on to the circle of bread and drizzle 1 tsp. of Crofter’s Organic Premium Seedless Raspberry Fruit Spread on top. Top with a few fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of crushed graham crackers. Repeat for each taco.
  • 3) Fold into taco shapes, pack into the lunchbox, and enjoy!

AB&J Glow-up #3

For those looking for lunchtime fun on the roll, we present the AB&J Roll-ups! Sweet Crofter’s Organic Concord Grape Premium Fruit Spread and a banana wrapped snugly in soft tortillas with a swirl of Justin’s naturally delicious Almond Butter, perfect for rolling into adventure.

AB&J Roll-ups

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • 1) Begin by spreading out the Crofter’s Organic Premium Concord Grape Fruit Spread & Justin’s Classic Almond Butter on to the tortilla until it reaches 1-2 inches from the edge.
  • 2) Place the banana on one end of the tortilla and gently roll it up. Try to wrap it as tight as possible without breaking the banana so that the roll-ups stay together.
  • 3) Once rolled up, slice it into roughly 1” rounds. Pack roll-ups into the lunchbox and enjoy!

AB&J Glow-up #4

And because we know kids need that extra boost of energy throughout the day, we’ve whipped up AB&J Protein Bites! Packed with protein-rich Justin’s naturally delicious Honey Almond Butter and a blast of berry goodness with Crofter’s Organic Berry Harvest Premium Fruit Spread, these little bites of joy will keep energy high going from class to recess and beyond.

AB&J Protein Bites

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • 1) Begin by mixing all of the ingredients together in a large bowl until everything is mixed thoroughly.
  • 2) Next, scoop out about 1-2 tbsp. of the protein bite mixture and gently roll it into balls using your hands. Repeat until all the protein bite mixture is used.
  • 3) Pack the protein bites into the lunchbox and enjoy!

At Crofter’s Organic, we take pride in our certified organic and non-GMO fruit spreads, boasting 33% less sugar than standard preserves. And when it comes to almond butter, Justin’s has your back with their naturally delicious, non-GMO project certified goodness, bursting with protein power!

Valentine’s Day ❤️ Charcuterie for Two

Avoid the crowds and stay in this Valentine’s Day… no cooking required!

Follow these 7 simple steps to make the perfect date night🥰 at home with a charcuterie for two. Impress your valentine with this easy, wow-worthy display handcrafted with love! Charcuterie boards are a fun way to switch things up and pair great with your favorite bottle of wine🍷.

FOLLOW 7 EASY STEPS!

HOW TO BUILD THE PERFECT✨

CHARCUTERIE BOARD FOR TWO!

1. FIND A SERVING BOARD🛒

Finding the perfect board is key! Putting a little extra effort into the presentation makes all the difference.

2. ADD PROTEIN🥩

Feature a variety such as: salami, uncured pepperoni, prosciutto, tofu, soppressata, plant-based meats or add calabrese salami for a spicy element. We recommend two protein options (or more) depending on your preference.

*Tip: You can get small portions cut at the butcher’s counter.

3. ADD CHEESE🧀

Add at least two cheeses (or plant-based cheeses)! We recommend adding 1 soft cheese and 1 hard cheese so your platter has options. You can’t go wrong with any of the below suggestions.

For soft cheese: brie, goat cheese, soft farm cheese, mozzarella, or gorgonzola.

For hard cheese:  gouda, swiss, sharp cheddar, provolone or manchego.

*Tip: Locate the little section of fancy cheeses that are priced per pound in your local grocery store.

4. CROFTER’S ORGANIC FRUIT SPREAD🍓🍑🥭🍒🫐

The secret to adding instant elegance! Spreads add vibrant flavor and a pop of color to your charcuterie board. We recommend using fun flavors like Mango, Morello Cherry, Apricot, Wild Blueberry or Strawberry.

*Tip: Any flavor is a fantastic choice!

5. BREAD OR CRACKERS🥖

Options like sliced french bread, rosemary crackers, buttery crackers, rye, multi-grain crackers, or sourdough work great.

*Tip: Try picking two different shapes, flavors or colors.

6. FRUITS & NUTS🍇🥜

We recommend picking 2-3 items so it will add texture to your board. Fruit like strawberries, apples, oranges, grapes, pomegranate arils or berries add rich color to your board. Choose sweet or salty nuts like almonds, pistachios, pecans, or peanuts.

*Tip: Use these items to fill in your board and add dimension.

7. INSTAGRAM WORTHY DISPLAY📸

Do it for the gram! For the finishing touch, embellish with fresh herbs like fresh rosemary, thyme or mint because they look great and add some greenery to your board. It also smells good too and will be sure to impress your valentine!

Learn About Why Non-GMO is Important!

HAPPY NON-GMO MONTH!

October is Non-GMO Month! It’s a chance for to spread awareness about GMOs and why non-GMO is so important!

Crofters has always been committed to nutrition, quality, and organics. We do, indeed, create tasty spreads, but every time we get in more fruit, or start the boilers, or cap another batch, we have health in mind too. Because your taste buds’ happiness should never be separated from your body’s wellness!

Organic also means NO genetically modified organisms allowed,  and we take this seriously.💯 It’s why we proudly display both the Organic and the Non-GMO Project Verified seal on all of our jars.🌱 It’s our promise that every ingredient in every jar has been verified to a rigorous standard for avoidance of GMO’s.😎🥄

croftersjarsoutside

WHY IS NON-GMO IMPORTANT?

GMOs have not always been in our food; they were introduced in the 1990’s and became common in the early 2000s. GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism. For example, Corn is the most commonly grown crop in the United States, and most of it is GMO. The DNA structure of the plant (GMO corn) has been altered in a way that would never occur in nature to resist insect pests or tolerate being sprayed with pesticides/herbicides. Companies sell GMO ready crops which are designed to survive several applications of these chemical sprays. These crops are harvested and put in the food supply chain.

The main ingredient in these harmful sprays is glyphosate. Glyphosate is a chemical known to cause cancer (a 2019 meta-analysis study showed glyphosate increases the risk of cancer by 41%!).

Strawberries continue to lead the “Dirty Dozen” list of fruits and veggies that contain the highest levels of pesticides. Other fruits include nectarines, apples, grapes, cherries, peaches, and pears. Also,  sugar cane is often directly sprayed with glyphosate to help ripen the crop before harvest. Currently, there is no scientific consensus on the safety of GMO foods, but the long-term impacts of GMOs are unknown, and once released into the environment these organisms can’t be recalled.

We don’t want any pesticides or herbicides sprayed on the ingredients we use to make our tasty spreads, and GMO farming practices inevitably result in higher levels of chemical residue. Therefore, it’s important for our ingredients to be certified organic AND verified non-GMO . It’s healthier for you and our planet!

WHAT DOES NON-GMO PROJECT VERIFIED MEAN?

The Non-GMO Project Product Verification Program is North America’s only third-party verification for non-GMO food and products. Third-party verification is the highest quality system when it comes to product labeling and certifications. It ensures products have been comprehensively evaluated by an independent party for compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard.

The USDA estimates that up to 80 percent of groceries in North America contain GMOs and GMO derivatives, which reflects the fact that more than 90 percent of our farmland is planted in GMO commodity crops.

Corn and soy alone provide an almost infinite number of ingredients and additives found in many processed foods.

This is why consumers know, trust, and seek out the Non-GMO Project Verified mark in every aisle at the grocery store. Consumers know that preserving and building the non-GMO supply chain is a critical step of transitioning toward a non-GMO food supply for future generations.

(Source: The Non-GMO Project)

WHY ARE YOU NON-GMO PROJECT CERTIFIED IF YOU ARE ALREADY CERTIFIED ORGANIC?

Organic regulations clearly prohibit the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in organic agriculture and organic processing; however, this restriction has not been well communicated to consumers. Crofter’s Organic wants to be sure our commitment to non-GMO foods is loud, clear, and double checked by an organization that only focuses on making sure foods are GMO-free: the Non-GMO Project. Because we care!

Being Eco-Friendly is Our Jam!

Learn More About our Waste Management & Recycling!

The three R’s, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, are important for everyone in our communities to know and understand. We learn how to recycle in many forms from many people, teachers, parents, and family members, just to name a few. This usually means throwing items in the “blue” bin or the “brown” bin. Easy enough, right? Well, unfortunately, it’s not quite that simple. Many items which end up in recycling bins do not make it through the recycling process, for various reasons. In recent years, Crofters has developed a recycling program which allows us to successfully recycle 99% of all packaging materials entering our facility. Let’s dive deeper into our waste management & recycling!

Our ingredients and supplies arrive in many forms, some in cardboard boxes with plastic liners, some in metal drums, some in 1000kg totes. We can’t forget wood, hundreds of pallets per year need to be discarded due to being unfit to carry food materials. All in all, our waste footprint has potential to be quite significant.

Partnering with a company specializing industrial recycled materials, we have been able to reduce our weekly waste that is sent to land fill to one small, 8 cubic yard bin. To put this in perspective, the average refrigerator has about 2 cubic yards of space. That’s right, we fit all the waste from materials needed to make 300,000 lbs of spread or jam (our average weekly production) into the space of 4 refrigerators!

Some May Wonder, ‘Why is This Important?’

Wouldn’t it be easier to just throw everything in the garbage? Of course, it would. We spend considerable amounts of time separating waste, storing it, and preparing it for shipment. When we embarked on the 5-year journey to build our new production facility, we made a promise to ourselves and our fans that we would do things as sustainably as possible. And while managing the large amount of recycled goods is cumbersome, it is our way of continuously improving our commitment to sustainable processing.

We needed to do more than just produce delicious and nutritious organic fruit spread. We needed to take it a step further by reduce our environmental footprint in all facets of our business—so it worked in unison. That’s why Crofter’s Organic designed a bear approved facility with sustainability and conservation in mind. Every little bit adds up to one big difference. #CroftersBearApproved

Learn Why Sustainable Cane Sugar is Important!

If you pick up the nearest packaged food item near you, read the ingredient label, you can be almost certain to find some form of sugar. While there are many forms and sources of sugar, the three most common sources are corn (corn syrup), sugar beets, and sugar cane. Crofter’s Organic offers two varieties of fruit spread: Premium & Just Fruit.

Just Fruit Spread (green cap): sweetened with fruit juice

Premium Spread (red cap): sweetened with IBD Fair-Trade certified cane sugar from the Green Cane Project in Brazil

You might be wondering, what does “IBD Fair-Trade” mean?

Crofters Premium Spreads are sweetened exclusively with IBD Fair-Trade cane sugar. The IBD Fair-Trade certification is a comprehensive program which covers two primary facets, sustainability and social justice. Sugar cane farming has traditionally been a fairly destructive practice on both fronts. Normal harvesting of sugar cane presents a significant sustainability issue. Due to the size of these massive plants (upwards of 20ft tall!), it’s easier to burn off the green tops of the plant prior to harvesting because stocks contain only the sweet juice that’s eventually turned into sugar. Although this simplifies the harvesting process tremendously, it puts unnecessary strain on the environment. First of all, burning releases thousands of tons of harmful gasses sequestered by plants into the environment. Secondly, it leaves the soil completely vulnerable to rapid dehydration, which can cause soil fertility to decline significantly.

In addition, the sugar cane industry has historically also had very poor ethical practices, similar to other temperate climate crops such as coffee and cocoa. Workers often face poor working conditions, extremely long work hours, and inequitable wages. The “social” aspect of IBD Fair-Trade is to ensure that workers are treated fairly, have safe working conditions, and are fairly compensated.

The Green Cane Project

Crofter’s has been partnered with the Green Cane Project for nearly 20 years as its exclusive supplier for cane sugar. This remarkable operation, rated one of the world’s top 15 most sustainable companies by the World Economic Forum in 2015, completely transformed the norms of sugar cane agriculture. By adopting green harvesting practices and various other sustainability initiatives, they have been able to regenerate the soil fertility in their crops to that of virgin rainforest quality, a complete 180° (learn more about regenerative agriculture here).

In addition to their forward-thinking sustainability initiatives, they also provide extensive care for their workers and families. Not only do they receive fair compensation and ethical labor conditions, but are also provided with community housing, access to healthcare, and even schooling for their children. To learn more about the Green Cane Project’s business model, check out this great video.

Fair-Trade as a certification is much more than merely an environmental certification. It is the best ethical and social certification as well. In other words, ensuring social, environmental, ethical, and economic impact. Therefore, overall human impact. #CroftersBearApproved

Since we’re a family-owned company we like to support other family-owned businesses. That’s another reason why we use only Fair-Trade Cane Sugar sourced from the eco-friendly Green Cane project in Brazil.

The Crofter’s Difference

Even though cane sugar is used to sweeten up our Premium Fruit Spreads,  Crofter’s is a low-sugar fruit spread. There is actually More Fruit, Less Sugar in our spreads. Have you ever looked at the back of your jam, jelly, or preserve jar? Warning, you may be shocked by the sugar content!

More Fruit, Less Sugar is the Crofter’s way! #CroftersBearApproved

Being Eco-friendly is Our Jam!

Here is How We Manage our Waste Water!

Crofters Organic is based in Parry Sound, ON, a small rural community in Northern Ontario, Canada. We are fortunate to be surrounded by stunning freshwater lakes, truly one of Mother Nature’s hidden gems. Despite having an abundance of freshwater at our doorstep, we have implemented unique strategies for reducing our water usage. Being eco-friendly is our jam, so let’s dig a little deeper into how we manage our waste water…

Water is a resource humans, wildlife, and plants can’t live without it! There is no question that it’s mother nature’s more valued resource and unfortunately, also one of the most abused…

While 70% of the earth’s surface is water, fresh water makes up only a microscopic 2.5%. We’re talking about 1% of the earth’s water being available for consumption—a staggeringly small number! Despite being located in an area abundant in fresh water, we do not take this resource for granted.

The food industry is among one of the heaviest users (and abusers) of fresh water. So, we knew we needed to find a way to be eco-friendly, reduce our impact on the environment, and help conserve this vital and finite resource.

Due to our rural location (don’t believe us, check out some of our pictures), we had to come up with a creative way to deal with the large volume of contaminated water from cleaning our equipment and surfaces. We had to get creative with our waste management system because we do not have access to municipal sewage services. And boy, did we ever! Partnering with experts in the water treatment industry, Crofter’s was able to develop a micro-sized wastewater treatment system that is located right on our property! This allows us to collect, treat and reuse nearly every drop of water that ends up in the floors collection drains! BOOM, the eco-friendly wastewater treatment plant was born. The Crofter’s bear is proud (#CroftersBearApproved) to say that our water treatment system has:

Reduced water consumption by over 85%

Has a 97% water return rate to our facilities

We Know What You’re Thinking, ‘But, How?!’. Well, Since You Asked…

First, water transfers through hundreds of feet of piping from floor grates to our treatment plant. Once there, water goes through initial filtration steps removing physical contaminants like debris and pieces of fruit. From there, water heads to equalization tanks in which any other physical contaminants settle to the bottom of the tank.

The Real Magic Happens in the Membrane Bioreactor!

With a name like that, you know it’s going to be cool, right? In the process of cleaning up our sticky jam mess, sugars present in the spreads dissolve in the water. Since there is no way to physically filter the dissolved sugar from water, we rely on our army of specially selected microorganisms to literally “eat” the sugar. The waste water enters a large vat filled with billions upon billions of good bacteria. These good bacteria consume the sugar (talk about job goals)! Ultimately, leaving it free of dissolved contaminants.

Once the bugs have had their fill of sugar, the water continues through the final purification steps which include filtration, ozonation, and reverse osmosis. And there you have it! What was once dirty sugar water, is now perfectly clean and safe water. Indefinitely reused for cleaning or cooling hot jars of spread! Although the water is clean enough to use in our fruit spreads, we use only pure, crisp water from our 400’ deep fresh water well!

Here at Crofter’s Organic, our heart is in the conservation of the environment and the wellbeing of all living things—bear, bee, plants, and human. That’s why we make conscious efforts to be eco-friendly by integrating sustainable processes like waste water management into our daily production—making it a bear approved facility!

Being Eco-Friendly is Our Jam!

Here is How We Manage our Energy

Fruit spread making calls for a lot of energy for both heating and cooling, see how our approach to energy management is a cut above! It’s no secret that manufacturing plants use tons of energy. Energy is key making any product and is vital for production. The manufacturing sector accounts for nearly 33% of all the energy consumed. Now, that’s a lot of energy! Fruit spreads, in particular, require significant energy inputs due to being fairly dense. The denser the product, the more energy it will take to heat/cool.

One of the key food safety processes in producing our spreads is “pasteurization”. By heating our products to a minimum of 87°C (189°F), we can ensure to destroy any potential pathogens, ensuring that nothing but sweet, fruity goodness makes it to your toast! However, to achieve this requires roughly 4,000,000 BTU/hour of energy input! That’s the equivalent of about 60 home heating furnaces! Unfortunately, there is no way around this. The product must be heated and energy is the only way to do it. But, it’s what we do with this energy after the jars have been filled that is really unique! Stick with us here, things are about to get a little heavy, but you can do it!

Alright Brainiacs, Time to Put on Your Physics Thinking Cap!

The first law of thermodynamics states that the total energy of a closed system remains constant. That’s to say, once the energy is imparted, it does not disappear, it can only be transferred from one body to another. So, after we fill our glass jars with piping-hot fruit spread, the energy which we imparted as heat in the cooking process remains. Because we need to cool the jars down quickly to label and package, they pass through a cooling tunnel which is over 100 feet long! In the tunnel, cool water sprays the jars to reduce the temperature of the glass in preparation for labeling. But this is where the ingenuity begins…

Remember What We Said About Conservation of Energy?

Well, most of the energy, previously held by the jar of jam, is now transferred to the cooling water, significantly raising its temperature. This, again, raises a problem, as we need the water to be cool to cool off more jars of spread! You can see how this cycle can become extremely wasteful. In conventional operations, the now warmed water would pass through refrigerating equipment (which requires energy to run) to cool it back to a useable temperature. This was just an option we were not going to consider.

To cool the water, we have two unique systems, which we use depending on the season.

In the winter months, it gets cold in our Northern community. We mean REALLY cold, as cold as -30°F. Obviously, this requires us to heat our buildings significantly. So, instead of using MORE ENERGY to heat, we installed in-floor heating loops that run through our entire production facility. When the warm water from the cooling tunnel passes through these loops, the energy (heat) is transferred through the floors and into the surrounding environment, eliminating the need to heat the building almost entirely!

In the summer, when its not inhumanely cold outside, we have a different way to cool our precious water. Buried deep under the property which our facility sits on are hundreds of feet of tubing. These tubes act as a geothermal cooling mechanism, using the cool temperature of the earths soil to reduce the temperature of the water. Although the energy from the warm water has now been lost, we at least do not require additional energy to reduce the temperature of the water through refrigeration.

Wow, thanks for making it this far, we know that was a bit dense, nice work!! In conclusion, we weren’t joking about being a cut about in our approach to energy management!

As a family-operated company, we enjoy holding ourselves to higher standards than the industry average! Curious about our family-owned roots, check out Our Story to learn more.

First, add a layer of small rocks or pebbles to the glass jar.

As a guide, fill up with small rocks to the bottom of the label on the jar.

Step 3:

Next, take the planting soil and fill the glass jar 3/4 of the ways full.

Again, as a guide, fill up with soil until you reach the top of the Crofter’s label.

Step 4:

Add in your seeds, try to place the seeds equally apart from each other and give them enough space from the side of the jar so that it doesn’t hinder their growth.

After that, gently place the seeds in the soil and lightly push them into the soil.

Step 5:

Lastly, fill up the remainder of the glass jar with planting soil and lightly push the planting soil down into the jar.

Careful not to pack it too tight.

Lightly spray the soil with water.

Step 6:

Finally, Repeat this process for each jar that you want to plant herb seeds into (we did 4).

Once all your seeds have been planted and the jars have been watered, carefully mount the jars to the wooden board with the hose ties.

Educational DIY Recycled Jar Ecosphere

With Earth Day right around the corner, what better educational DIY project then a recycled self-sustaining Ecosphere?! You can easily turn this into an at-home lesson by teaching your children what an Ecosphere is. (Click HERE for a resource to help explain what an Ecosphere is to your kids). Turn science into fun with this educational DIY Recycled Jar Ecosphere project that uses all recycled materials! Let the adventure begin!

Because Crofter’s Organic always has the conservation of the environment in mind, we’ve focused on responsible farming and integrated sustainable processes into all facets of our business. We know that every little bit adds up to one big difference! That’s why the Crofter’s signature jar was not chosen by mistake. The deep European twist cap and thick solid glass jar is meant to last and be reused for years to come. Crofter’s Organic is all about reduce, reuse, recycle and want to encourage our fans to do the same! Keep the kids entertained with this educational DIY Recycled Jar Ecosphere project!

Follow the steps below:

Step 1:

To start, make sure to give your Crofter’s jar a good cleaning by removing all fruit spread remnants.

Remove the labels so that you can see more clearly into the Ecosphere!

**Pro Tip: let the jars soak in warm soapy water for a few hours to easily peel off the label.

Step 2:

For the first layer, gently pour in some small rocks or pebbles.

Try to find some small rocks that are close to the lake or pond that you will be collecting from.

Step 3:

Next, add in a layer of mud from the bottom of the lake/pond to the glass jar and layer it evenly over the pebbles and rocks.

Step 4:

Almost done, add in a layer of any type of water plant that was found living in or around the pond/lake where you have been collecting followed by a few sticks or twigs.

Step 5:

Finally, Seal the jar and place finished jar by a window that receives some sunlight.

Let all of the water and materials settle by a window.

Now watch the science of the Ecosphere unfold before your eyes!

Step 6:

Over the next days/weeks the Ecosphere will become self-sustaining!

If you notice that the plants are looking like they may be dying, open the jar to let some oxygen into it and then close it again. Leave it open for only about 10- minutes.

Also try moving it away from the window if the sunlight is too direct.

What a great way to make at-home learning F-U-N!

Make sure to upload a picture of your finished Ecosphere to social and tag @CroftersOrganic

Think Outside the Jar with These 30 Creative ways to use Fruit Spreads!

A common question we get asked “Why is Crofter’s called a ‘fruit spread’ and not a jam, jelly, or preserve?”. It’s a good reason, hear us out!

Did you know that Crofter’s Organic Fruit Spreads have 33% less sugar than jam, jelly, or preserves? To be labeled a jam, jelly, or preserve per FDA standards, products must contain an end sugar content of roughly 65%! No, we’re serious and agree that’s A LOT more sugar than you need! Crofter’s Organic has More Fruit, and Less Sugar which is why it’s called a ‘fruit spread’. Crofter’s is proud to be called a ‘fruit spread’ and offer people a healthier option with only 7g of sugar per serving without sacrificing on taste or adding in artificial sweeteners. Now that’s a win we can all get behind!

Low Sugar, Flavorful Fruity Taste

Since all Crofter’s products are organic and a low-sugar option, the shelf life of the product is naturally shorter (remember, sugar helps to preserve products! Hence the name “preserves”). Since we do not use chemical preservatives, we recommend that our spreads are used within 20 days of opening for optimal freshness and flavor. You may be thinking, “how am I going to use this jar of Crofter’s fruit spread before it spoils? I don’t eat that much toast”. Don’t worry, we got your back!

Meet Our Extensive Family of Spreads! More Fruit, Less Sugar: Premium Vs. Just Fruit

Every jar of Crofter’s Organic has 33% less sugar than a preserve which means you taste more lip-smacking fruit juiciness and less plain sugar. More fruit, less sugar! One of the most common questions we get is ‘what is the difference between the RED caps and the GREEN caps?’. Let’s take a deeper look into our extensive family of spreads delicious, shall we…

Premium Fruit Spreads

Our Premium Spreads can be easily identified, just look for the RED cap on the jar.

This line is sweetened with a pinch of fair-trade organic cane sugar sourced from the Green Cane Project in Brazil. This organization focuses on sustainably producing organic sugar, preserving the environment, and the health, happiness, and education of their workers and families. They pioneered harvesting sugar cane without burning the land, and then went further by re-establishing biodiversity.

The cane sugar we use is produced without the use of bone char. This is a common process in the sugar refining industry. This ensures that all of our tasty spreads meet Vegan and Vegetarian standards!

Just Fruit Spreads

Our commitment has always been to produce the most nutritious fruit spread possible which leads us to our Just Fruit Spreads! This line can be easily identified, just look for the GREEN cap on the jar!

There’s no refined sugar here. Instead, we enlist the help of organic orchards to supply us with high-quality organic apple juice that adds a subtle sweetness to our spreads, without masking the great fruit flavor. We add this fruit-based sweetness to our fruits instead of cane sugar making Just Fruit Spreads filled to the brim with, well, just fruits. Hence the name ‘Just Fruit’!

This line is ideal for consumers who are trying to eat less refined sugar or have dietary restrictions and are still jam-packed with flavor!

The difference between these two line is the sweetener! Regardless of what product line you choose, you can rest assured that all our spreads contain 33% less sugar. That’s only 30 calories per serving and 7g of sugars.

More Fruit, Less Sugar is a win for everyone!
